Dynamics

collectors_corner.jpg
In your lifetime have you ever met someone you would call dynamic?  The English dictionary defines the word dynamic as "a basic or dynamic force, one that motivates, affects development or stability.  Haven't we all had people in our lives that just seem to capture a persons attention.  Maybe a teacher that just seemed to make learning a little more fun or made it easy to understand what they were trying to convey. A person for what ever reason just captures your attention.  Would you consider these people dynamic, gifted?  I sure would!

The hobby of Die Cast Collectibles is very fortunate to have such a person with whom I would give the tag of being dynamic.

2009 Tim Kubicek Car Of The Year Award

Article submitted by Detour Dave:

Happy New Year everyone! As we ring in 2010 and look forward the many great diecast releases that are sure to come our way over the next 12 months, it's time to reflect back on the past year and vote for the one model worthy of being rewarded with the 2009 Tim Kubicek Car of the Year Award.

As in past years, before we can vote, we each need to nominate what we feel were the top 5 models of 2009. The nominations round will run for 2 weeks, ending the weekend of 01/16 - 01/17. At that point, the nominations will be tallied and the final poll will be posted in which we will vote for one of the top 5 nominees, ultimately deciding the winner of the 2009 Tim Kubicek Car of the Year Award.

To submit your nominations and to follow the 2009 vote visit the DCP Car of the year thread located here.

One could guess that names like Beef Curtains, Corrupted, FC7 RM23, 78 Bandit, Kickinoutyo, or even Old Mopar will never become mainstream,  they are in fact screen names that members of The Diecast Pub have come to know as skilled craftsman when performing mods on their scale die cast model cars.

These members along with other such as RamJet, Felipe R, 2L8IWON, JohnnyGMachine all took part in The Diecast Pub's second Die Cast mod contest sponsored by Georgia Marketing Products (GMP)

With entries in three different category classes , DCP members showed their talents performing modifications to a 1993 1:18 scale Steeda Mustang which was offered to DCP members at a special discount price from GMP.  Class winners received a 1:6 Scale Ferrari SWB engine with a retail value of $499.00.  Second place winners received 1:18 scale car of their choice from GMP.

Winners of "THE DIECAST PUB" mod contest #2 are listed below. Congratulations to all, and a very big thank you to all who participated.

Coming Soon from GMP

gmp_hawaiian_1.jpg
Built in 1964 by legendary engine builder Keith Black, painted blue metallic by Joe Anderson, it debuted at the famous Lion's Drag Strip with Leong at the wheel. After crashing on his first pass, Don Prudhomme was brought on the team as the new driver. Leong and Prudhomme won the NHRA Winternationals in 1965, and went on tour winning almost every race they entered, including important wins at Pomona and Indy. The following year, Mike Snively drove the Hawaiian to victory AGAIN at Pomona and Indy.... two of the biggest races of the year, won two years in a row by two different drivers... a record yet to be duplicated!
