I first met Joe Kelly Jr in the early 2000's but only for a brief moment. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Joe and his wife Casey at IHobby 2008 in Chicago. For this I am eternally grateful.
Many collectors have read Joe Kelly Jr's articles and reviews in the magazine "Toy Cars & Models" which is no longer in publication. Joe also can be seen and heard on his web site "Playing with Cars" or you can now read his reviews in his new publication "The Car Room" magazine, which launched in 2008. A Great magazine that features over 100 full color pages of top models both new and from years past. All scales are represented. A magazine truly for the collectors and written by collectors.
Joe Kelly's talents seem to be never ending and are most noticeable in his delivery of his video reviews. It is also very easy to see his love for the hobby in the preparation that he takes to present a quality review. There also is a Public Television Program in the very near future that will promote the hobby of die cast collectibles as never before.
From playing with cars to playing with music. - It doesn't take long for one to notice or to understand this mans never ending enthusiasm about the hobby or his never ending dedication to it. I did however get a short glimpse of another talent that Joe has and that was when he set down at a piano that was located in the lounge at the hotel bar. What was to last only but 30 seconds gave a very good indication that music was also in his background. Come to find out Joe was lead singer with a group called From the Fire many years ago.
Joe was kind enough to put together a short song and video to share with friends on his Face Book pages. Forever and a Day is a song that Joe says he put together to share with old fans and new friends alike. It also will reveal what I heard in those thirty seconds in a lobby of a Chicago Hotel. A Dynamic individual with many many talents.
Best of luck Joe and thank you for your dedication to the hobby.
