Since our project car was Steeda race car, I wanted to stay in Pro Touring/Road racing theme. My first idea was wide body racer like Tran-am car ,but GMP already have a great example of that. So, I decide to build Street driven weekend race car.
The Engine: I wanted to stay with small block 302 ,so power adder was needed and this is what she got. Pretty much everything on the motor was scratch built including Both Turbos, Turbo manifold, Wastgate, all of the Exhaust piping, individual intake runners, Intake manifold, Fuel rail, injectors, and all the wiring. Most of the parts are scratch built from various model car parts or everyday items like push pins laugh.gif
The Chassis: I wanted the cars to sit very low...so I drop the suspension about 6-7in(1:1) and gave lots of cambers in the front for that race car look. Got rid of stock engine bay and replaced with tubular chassis.
The Rims/Tires: I real like the look of Steeda Mustangs 5spoke and also wanted to have some clue this model started as Steeda Mustang from GMP. So I modified the wheels and made it 2pcs Deep dish style rims and finished off with Super wide Dunlop race slicks.
The Interior: I got rid of carpets and painted with flat black. Added 10gal fuel cell, modified Roll cage, added rear shock tower brace, Recaro race seat, 3spoke wheel, Hurst shifter, relocated battery, and some misc.
The body: This was my first full repaint and custom body work... wink.gif I wanted 60's and 70's Nascar stance with modern G-machine feel! So I cut off the stock flares and made the wheels really tuck up in the body. Since the wheels were widen by 6-7ins I built over size flares. I used Tamiya putty and Bondo to make the flares and bonded to the body. I also added Front balance from Cobra 'R' model, added couple of canards. Got rid of bumper rub strips and made it smooth. GT wing was added for pure track car purpose. I was going to have flat silver with clear coat for the color ,but really like the satin finish! Kinda give you that modern race car look laugh.gif I didn't paint the hood ,but polished it for Aluminum look(looks better in person wink.gif )
