A friend of mine races a Mustang over here at Raceway Park in Old Bridge/Englishtown and is high in the standings. One night I get a call from him in a panic. "John, I need your help! The Cobra blew its motor during a qualifying run and hit the guard rail past the finish line. It made the show. but I have 3 days to fix it." I said OK, let me make some calls about a motor and then I will help you fix the body and paint it. there was only one person I knew that could get a motor asap that would win, so I called down south to the one and only Pork Chop. I told him the story, and he was very understanding and said he would love to help out. But the only motor he had ready to go was a Ford DOHC 427 monster block that would take a lot to get in the car. He then said he would not trust anyone but himself to put it in. So he loaded it up in his truck and he himself drove it up to New Jersey to install it. He also called a buddy over at Steeda for some front and rear sway bars, frame connectors, and traction bars since this monster would have twisted the Mustang into a pretzel! He also installed two NOS bottles, which I painted to match the Stang. Well, after three days of beating on the car, we had it ready for Sunday, and the car was scary fast! So fast it set new records in its class at Raceway Park, and the car got a lot of looks. Pork Chop turned to me and said, "You know, you yankees are not so bad, and you really love your hot rods. I might have to come up north again, and bring something to run that would put you all in your place!"

So, here is what was done to Frankenstang:

427 Ford DOHC big block installed with Nitrous bottles installed in trunk
Battery relocated to trunk area
Steeda frame connectors fabricated and installed
traction bars installed
MSD ignition installed
5 spoke drag wheels installed
rear ride height raised to help clear slicks
Steeda front and rear aluminum sway bars added
Monster tach fabricated and installed
fire bottle added
racing seats installed
6 inch cowl hood with blower opening fabricated to clear motor. Hood is made from two hoods, flat stock and bondo.
Body painted in House of Kolor base black, then shot in House of Kolor Midnight Blue pearl, as was the interior roll bars. Then I painted the water drop effect on the hood, roof and rear spoiler first using House of Kolor white base, then going over the white with House of Kolor transparent Oriental Blue to give the water drops a lighter blue look. Car was masked off and the lower half of the car and center of the hood was hand airbrushed House of Kolor Orion Silver with black for shadows and to give the silver graphics an aged look. Shot three coats of House of Kolor UFC35 clear. Graphics were hand striped in House of Kolor Process Blue striping enamel.

All told there are about 65-75 hours in the car, a lot in the paint.
