Hey Matt thank you for the update and a Happy New Year to you and yours.  Two quick questions...1. what is the year for the Ford Crown Vic NYPD cars due out in Jan. and   2. what exactly is the new tooling/parts we can expect on the 67 "Eleanor"?

thanks,

Alex B.

Thanks for the updates Matt...   Really looking forward to the Vanishing Point Challenger, Joe Dirt GTX, Supernatural Impala and 69 Daytona!  :D

Looks like it will be a banner year for Greenlight!!!

Still hoping someday, you can do the 72-73 Challengers by just changing the front and rear-end plastic parts...

Hi Alex,

Sure, I can help out here:

1) The model year for the NYPD cars isn't really how we were told to refer to this item, Ford always wants us to just call them the Police Interceptor. But between you and me, it's basically a 2001 era Ford CVPI. But we've added the electronics and correct NYPD light bar to this.

2) You may have seen a 1:18 Eleanor before from a rival manufacturer. But what we meant by new tooling parts is that our model will have many changes that are more accurate but weren't shown properly when this model was made previously. We are working extremely closely with the licensor and the actual vehicle(s) to make sure these really match the 1:1.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Matt

A '72-'73-'74 Challenger, hmmm. Yes, depending on the model it wouldn't be many changes to our mold would it? It's been considered and still is on a regular basis so don't think we are ignoring this thought. But as you can see from the list above, we've got a lot on our plate for this year already.

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks for this lenghty update, Matt.

I'm really looking forward to the two "Eleanor"s you have planned. The ERTL model of the original movie car is near impossible to fine here, while I always found the hood bulge on the SC '67 Elnor a bit too pronounced to my taste.

I will definetly be getting #12897 - 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe - Black with Gold Stripes. I once came close to buying this '68, but sadly the circumstaces weren't right.  I have always wanted to make a scale replica of it, but since I can't paint cars it never happened...

Thanks Matt for the explanation on my inquiry.  I kinda figured it was the most recent body style of the Crown Vic and after viewing your video on the NYPD Fords with lights & siren I plan on getting one soon.  Fair price point too.  And yes, my fault on presuming the current Eleanor release was a Greenlight product.  My bad.  Looking forward also to the 67 "Ski Country Special" and the 76 Mustang II Stallion.  The only 1/18th Mustang I have so far is the 67 "Go Go Gone" blue fastback.  I've had it for sometime and am very pleased with the detail, quality and finish of this product.  Keep em coming!

So from this thread I take it a '72, '73, or '74 Challenger could eventually happen.  :D  I won't sleep tonight. LOL

This will be an opening door/hood/trunk model, not a sealed one from the Artisan line. This is the same tool we used for the NYPD lights & sounds items if you are familiar with that one.

Thanks,

Matt

1:18 Artisan Collection - Fast & Furious 6 (2013) 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Custom - New Tooling

1:18 Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) - 1967 Ford Mustang "Eleanor" - New Tooling Parts

When can we see some pics of the prototypes!!!

Shelby Collectibles left MUCH to be desired in their GT500E.  Even though it was meant as a low end model, the proportions were just not there.  The nose piece was not right and didn't match up with the hood.  The way the lip of the hood curved down above the grill versus curving up as it should etc.  I hope you guys can one up Shelby Collectibles.

I assume that you are not basing your model on the GT500E that Shelby had Unique Performance build, but rather the movie car?  Am I to assume a standard Mustang drivetrain, suspension and interior?

Cheers

Yes, we are remaking Eleanor, the movie car. When we get some solid 3D or prototypes I'll be sure to post them here.

Thanks,

Holy cow I am going to go broke this year.  With all of those Mustangs coming out and on top of that, the Camaros.  Wow, going to be a good year for Greenlight.

OK, I love all the muscle cars you do, and that every manufacture has done really. But we need fresh metal!!!! How about an AMC Javelin, or 1973 - 1976 Matador, or even the cool little S/C rambler. Can't believe that one has been overlooked. And onto the Fords...Enough with the mustang already (take it easy 'stang fans!) How about Clint Eastwoods 1972 Gran Torino or nascar version in primer ie Buddy Baker? A stock s/s or p/s Pinto or maverick. Or a correct size scale 1981-82 Ford T-bird. (Action really screwed up the 1/24th version of that car) or a 1/18 1976 Mercury Cougar, 1976-1977 Olds Cutlass 442s, 1974-77 Chevy Monte Carlos, 1978-79 Dodge Magnum 73-74 Dodge Charger with the louvered windows. 99% of all the paint schemes, options, accessories and customizing are done to every diecast that has been developed. Lets move on a little. NEW METAL PLEASE! just my opinion. Thanks, Bobby
